Melvin G. ‘Mel’ Kindred

Melvin G. Kindred, “Mel,” passed away on March 25, 2013, at 63 years old. Mel grew up and lived his life in Warrenton and Astoria. He graduated from Warrenton High School in 1967.

He did what he enjoyed, and that was commercial fishing, including gillnetting, clam digging, and crabbing, and also hauling scrap metal. What he loved to do best was talk. He never met a stranger, and would talk to anyone who would listen. He was a very kind man, and would do whatever he could to help others.

Mel is survived by his mother Rozella Kindred, daughter Danelle Kindred, granddaughters Lily Gauntlett, Maria Rookstool, Christina Rookstool, Kimberly Rookstool, Brittney Rookstool, many nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Kindred, brother Charles Kindred, brother Clyde Kindred, sister Cathy Miller, and nephew Kenneth Miller.

Services will be held graveside at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, followed by a gathering at the Methodist Church in Warrenton
