Larry Dean Campbell

June 4, 1938 — July 4, 2017

Larry Dean Campbell was born June 4, 1938, in Vallejo, California, and passed away July 4, 2017, in Portland, Oregon, from complications of heart surgery.

He was born to O.W. and Dorothy Campbell in Vallejo, California, and moved to the Warrenton area as a child. He attended school in Warrenton and graduated from Warrenton High School in 1956.

He married Blanche Byrd in 1956, and the couple had three children, Michael, Valerie and Jeffrey.

Larry held various jobs before moving to Lake Oswego in 1961. He became a machinist at Irvington Moore, and worked his way up to production manager before retiring at age 59.

Larry enjoyed building and racing hydroplanes. During that time he built numerous successful hydroplanes that set many world records. He was also a constant innovator throughout his life, including the invention of an automatic actuator drape control.

Later in life he enjoyed reading and doing handy work around the neighborhood. He also always enjoyed working with wood.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche, his three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Ron, and sister, Carol.

The family will be holding a public graveside service at Ocean View Cemetery on 18th Street in Warrenton, Oregon, on Friday, July 14, at 2 p.m.
