Barbara Anne (Morrise) Lewis

Barbara Lewis passed away September 2, 2014, in Warrenton, Oregon, after a prolonged illness. She was born September 5, 1947, in Astoria, Oregon, to parents Chet Morisse and Emilene (Brim) Morisse. She graduated from Warrenton High.

Barbanne married James Lewis on March 6, 1969, in Long Beach, Washington. In 1975, James and Barb moved to Arizona and had 3 children, Matthew, Luke and Meagan. Family was a priority in both Barbanne’s private life and professional life. She was deeply involved in the lives of her children as well as her co-workers and many clients. One of Barbanne’s most endearing qualities was her empathy and ability to listen and connect with others.

In 1998, she and her family moved back to Astoria, Oregon. After 30 years as a cosmetologist, she became a Realtor. In 2008, she became the principal broker of her company, Area Properties, where she created a bond with her co-workers that became so strong she considered them a part of her family. She was dedicated to their success as well as her own. Many of her clients remained in contact, and would often stop by just to talk to her. She was a mentor for many and a constant empathetic ear.

Barbanne took great pride and joy in her family and children. “Mom never missed a game, recital, award ceremony or life event, EVER.” In the later part of her life, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter, Meagan, and hearing of the travels of her son, Matt. Her marriage to Jim was a life filled with gratitude and support. No wife has ever been more loved.

Barbanne was preceded in death by her father, Chet Morisse; her brother, Allen Morisse; and sadly by her son, Luke Lewis. She is survived by her loving mother, Emilene Morisse of Warrenton; her husband of 45 years, James Lewis; and her children, Meagan Lewis of Astoria, and Matthew Lewis and his wife, Jovone, and grandson, Phoenix, who are currently living in South Korea. She is also survived by her brother, Steve Morisse and his wife, Shirley, of Astoria, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbanne was never one to draw attention to herself and has requested no services.
